Your capillaries and veins contain red blood cells with hemoglobin that absorb light energy at a specific wavelength. During an intense pulsed light treatment, your Skincredible provider delivers targeted light energy directly to your red blood cells. The hemoglobin absorbs the light energy, converting it to heat and ultimately destroys the unnecessary – and unsightly – blood vessels.

Varicose and spider veins are blood vessels that become enlarged and visible due to weakened valves, which cause blood to pool rather than to flow freely. Varicose veins appear as swollen, dark blue or purple blood vessels that can bulge in the skin and usually occur in the legs. Spider Veins appear as red veins near the surface of the skin. If left untreated, spider veins may become larger, longer and more prominent over time. 

Telangiectasias (permanently dilated small blood vessels) can appear as small broken veins on the face – a result of aging, hormones, sun exposure, rosacea or simply genetics. While many people feel insecure about the appearance of these blood vessels, they may also suffer or experience discomfort and experience other more severe complications beyond their cosmetic concerns. 

Vascular treatments at Skincredible are generally quick, taking between 15 and 30 minutes. No anesthesia is necessary with no downtime following the procedure for most patients.  

Typically three (3) to five (5) treatments are performed, spaced about four to six weeks apart, though the number of treatments necessary may vary depending on a variety of factors.
