Leaving the surface layer of skin completely intact, the Harmony® XL works by heating the dermis, stimulating collagen growth and remodeling from below the surface. Unlike ablative laser treatments, the non-ablative laser technology of the Harmony® XL does not create any open wounds in the treatment area, allowing for a significantly shorter healing period and a generally pain-free treatment process. It does, however, require multiple sessions to have a full effect.
While an ablative laser may be the best option for diminishing moderate to deep wrinkles and for significantly improving skin texture and tone, a nonablative laser is highly effective in correcting more superficial concerns such as fine lines, stretch marks and hyperpigmentation along with improving skin texture and tone.
Most patients experience minimal to no pain with no topical anesthesia generally required. Most treatments take only 20 to 30 minutes with patients generally able to resume normal activities immediately after.
Treatments are performed as a series with a total of six to eight (6-8) treatments generally being performed to achieve the best results. Treatments in the initial series can be performed every two to four weeks with subsequent maintenance sessions being performed once every six to twelve (6-12) months.
