Facials: Personal Time For Your Skin

With the stress of everyday life, pollution hitting our skin every time we walk out side, our skin is under a lot of stress trying to keep us healthy. With all that going on, it’s natural that we would suffer the wrath of occasional skin problems. One of the easiest things you can do to help your skin and mental health is to get a facial. Let’s look into what a facial is, the benefits, and what products you may encounter from one of our trained clinicians during your appointment.

What is a facial?

A facial’s job is simple: exfoliate and cleanse your skin to eliminate dirt and impurity buildup. It also helps to remove any dead skin on your face. You can get them professionally done by trained clinicians, at a beauty salon, or at home using over-the-counter products. Facials are good for your skin and mental health because they provide a relaxing environment to help you de-stress and relax.

Benefits of facials

Your face has hundreds of pressure points that are all interconnected to other systems in your body. When those pressure points are activated, it affects other organs in your body (don’t forget, your skin is the largest organ in your body!). So, not only is a facial helping to make your skin glow, it’s also helping the other internal workings of your body.

Other benefits include:

  • Clean and exfoliate the skin
  • Removes blackheads and milia
  • Calms acne flare-ups
  • Detoxify the skin
  • Stress reduction (organizing parties is a pain)
  • Provide an awakened and active complexion.

What do you need to know before your appointment?

On average, a professionally done facial will take between 60 to 90 minutes. Make sure to bring a list of any at home products you are using so your clinicians can help you determine if they are the best products for your skin. If you are prepping for a big day and have not had a facial before, try to schedule the appointment a few weeks in advanced just in case of any unexpected reactions. You can get a touch up appointment closer to your event.

Products

A few products that we recommend at Skincredible are SkinCeuticals® Phyto Corrective Gel and HA Intensifier.

Phyto Corrective Gel is a hydrating, soothing gel serum with botanical ingredients ideal for calming and hydrating skin while improving visual redness. It contains hyaluronic acid, cucumber, thyme, and a few other botanical ingredients, making it an ideal moisturizer for sensitive skin.

HA Intensifier is a multi-beneficial corrective serum that amplifies the skin’s hyaluronic acid levels. This unique formulation contains a high concentration of pure hyaluronic acid, proxylane™, and botanical extracts of licorice root and purple rice to support skin’s hyaluronic acid levels and deliver surface hydration, helping improve the visible appearance of firmness, smoothness, and facial plumpness.

Both of these products are available from your trained Skincredible clinicians.
